Spring is here (someone tell the weatherman, please) and new collective galleries have sprung just in time for March First Friday. We deliver a couple new gallery babies to you, plus a tried and true collective to round things out.
Little Berlin is reinventing itself as a group venture, and what better way to begin a collaboration than with a collaborative mixed media installation by the members--Robert "Tim" Pannell, Tyler Kline, Masha Badinter, Alex Gartelmann, Beth Heinly, Kristen N. Taylor, Sam Belkowitz, and Martha Savery-Kahn.
They're serving up badminton, eggs, and organic beer! Who can be crazy enough to resist this offering?

Another group gallery hatches Friday!!! The inaugural exhibit at Tiger Strikes Asteroid features the group--Phillip Adams, Tim Gierschick, Alexis Granwell, Alex Paik, Nathan Pankratz, and Caroline Santa. After that, look for a mix of in-house and out-of-house curated shows, there.
We're buoyed by this outpouring of new energy transforming Philly's art scene.

One of the images from the show at Vox Populi--we don't know who did it, yet.
The granddaddy of collaboratives in this group is Vox. This month, the gallery hosts its annual guest-curated show, Bivouac, featuring artists working in film and video, photography, sculpture and drawings. The show sounds a little bit theoretical, a little bit theatrical, and a lot intriguing.
The lineup of artists is Alex Hubbard, Sung Hwan Kim, Meiro Koizumi, Anna Molska, Lucy Raven, Sara VanDerBeek, and Steve Roden, and they were curated in by writer and curator Fionn Meade.
What's also great is the gallery talk on the same night as the opening--this way, you get a twofer if you show up in time--the show and the talk.
